Mangifera pentandra is an evergreen tree with a massive, wide crown of drooping, gnarled, thick limbs; it can grow up to 28 metres tall. The bole can be up to 90cm in diameter, either unbuttressed or with very short, thick buttresses [ 894 ]. The tree is harvested from the wild for local use as a food and source of wood - the wood is also traded.
